For our first year working with Khipu in Peru, we landed on this elegant beauty from Rogelio and Franklin Pena. In the cup we're tasting loads of vanilla and sugarcane sweetness. There's a complex berry fruitiness, reminding us of loganberries (a hybrid of blackberries and raspberries ;) ). Combined with a structured mouthfeel, this coffee continues to reveal itself as it cools- a characteristic we always enjoy at the roastery!

In 2020 the father and son team created Finca La Familia, bringing together their family and neighbours to process and sell their coffee directly. Its role extends beyond coffee production, representing a collaborative effort of families dedicated to sustainability and quality. They focus on organic farming practices, prioritising the health of soil and environment.

ROGELIO PENA - PERU

For this lot, cherry is selectively harvested, and once pulped, placed in sealed bags and left for 48 hours. It is then dried in solar dryers for around 25 days, until moisture levels are at 10-11%.
